Thomas Winter spielt mit dem höchsten deutschen Handicap +5 nicht nur erfolgreich in Europa, sondern auch auf internationalen Turnieren in Ländern wie Argentinien, Mexiko, USA oder Thailand und kann auch auf Meisterschaften und Qualifikations- spiele für die Weltmeisterschaft und nicht zuletzt auf einen Vize-Europameistertitel zurückblicken.

Thomas Winter was born on the 21. December 1968 in Dar es Salaam/Tansania. He was the first son of Klaus and Lena Winter and grew up in Africa till 1977. His two brothers Oliver “Nolly” Winter was born in 1970 and Christopher “Niffy” Winter in 1971. They have a handicap of + 2 +3 goals respectively. Also Klaus still plays Polo very regulary with a handicap 0 and is still very enthusiastic about playing and organising polo. He has previously played polo tournaments with his sons in one team – the Winter–Polo Team. Mother Lena organises and provides the Polo School horses as she has did in Africa. After Thomas`”A” level – the German school leaving examination and university entrance qualification he started an apprenticeship to become an Energy Plant Electrician in order to obtain a university degree in commerce, which he achieved in 1998.

After 4 more years at DWI – Grundbesitz GmbH, Hamburg, Thomas Winter started his assingment as the Polostud Manager at the Polo stud farm in Hamburg – Osdorf. This is where his very successful WIN Polo School is situated.

For 12 years Thomas Winter managed and played for the IDEE & CAPT. Hook Polo Teams with the TC Atti Darboven and Tommy Scholdra. Moreover Thomas Winter won many German Polo Championships – low, medium and high Goal. In 2007 he became 2. in Germanys highest Polo league – high goal in one team with his brothers Oliver and Christopher and Christian Badehop in his hometown Hamburg.

Already in 2001 Thomas Winter has obtained the highest German Polo Handicap +5 which he is still holding. He plays at a + Goal Player throughout Europe and other international tournaments in Argentina, exico, USA and Thailand and was qualified to play in a number championships – both Europe and Worldchampionships. He was once a european vice champion. In 2003 Thomas Winter was awarded in England the highest teaching degree for Polo – the HPA Qualified Coach Standard by Hurlingham Polo Association. He is also an umpire Grade “A” and is therefore a very popular umpire for important Polo matches.

In 2001 Thomas Winter was the team captain of german national bicycle Polo team which became 5th in the world championship. 2002 Thomas Winter became Elephant Polo World Champion in one team with both his brothers. For many years Thomas Winter was a member of the board of the German Polo Association and the Landesverband der Reit- und Fahrvereine e.V. and is an active Member of the breeder Ass. At the Pferdestammbuch Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg e. V. where the breed of the German Polo Horse is being
registered. In order to breed and train Polo horses Thomas Winter has completed several coursed in California at the “Flag is Up Farm” of Monti Roberts –“Join Up and Follow Up”.
